Lyric is a Year - Part 2...

I can't believe the last time I saw Declan, he was just 13 days new and now... he is 1. I love seeing my clients come back a year later... seeing Declan was such a treat. He is still super cute... missing the red hair I had imagined him to have, but those big blue eyes are to die for. :)This session did not take place at our usual planned location... but we managed to make it work. Today I met with J & M and there soon to be little girl, Natalie. :) I am so excited to meet her in the next month to take her newborn pics! Lyric is a Year...

Well yet again one of my year babies has turned a year. I first met Lyric before she was born... then I met her at only a few days old... then again at a happy 6 months... and now, she is 1 Year Old! I just love when my clients choose me to document the months of their children's first year... some do every 3 months, some do every 6 months... either way, to see them from a newborn to a year is just awesome. :)

The weather has been super crazy here and we rescheduled this session once and almost had to do it again but we decided to go ahead since it was dry and not raining. It was cloudy and cold but we managed to get some beautiful light and smiles. :) Lyric's cousin from Canada came along for a couple pics as well, isn't he a cutie too?

Well I am sure if you follow my blog you will notice this beautiful momma and these gorgeous little kiddos. As you can see... I will be an aunt again very soon! Momma is going to have her hands full but we are all excited to welcome a new little one into the family. All always, they are keeping the baby's gender a surprise... I LOVE IT... so much more fun. But since they already have one of each... either one would be great!!!

Alaina is one of my year babies, and her year with me is over. :( She turned one last month but we had to reschedule her session a couple times. She is one of my serious babies, but no matter what... her mom and I always manage to get a little smile out of her. LOL She is just so cute and still so tiny, hard to believe she is "1" already... were did the year go?

Well anyone who knows me knows that I have been Best Friends with this beautiful girl since 2nd grade. We have still remained close this whole time. She is one of those girls that no matter how crazy our lives get, how much time goes by since we last saw each other... its doesn't matter, we just go back to where we left off. I have some of the best memories from my childhood with her, great times. :) This year, she got engaged to this great guy. They asked me to take a couple pics of them for their Christmas card this year and I was so excited. Their first time behind my camera... actually their first time doing a session together, and they did great. :)

A couple weeks ago I did a session for one of my favorite families. I have known Jenny since I was in 2nd grade. I am best friends with her sister Lynnette so Jenny has always been like a sister to me. :) I was so excited for their session. They hired my friend Katrina for styling so I just knew they would all look amazing. We had to keep their session a secret until all her cards went out... she just gave me the OK to blog... so here it is. A very long blog too... sorry I just couldn't narrow down any more.

Well Bryce just turned 1 a couple weeks ago and we finally found some time to get his 1 year pics taken. It always amazes me how fast a year goes by with my year babies... I bet their moms are thinking the same thing. LOL I just love to see how much they grow from newborn to a year... and this little guy is no exception. My family is really close with his and my kids call Bryce their cousin... so I am sure he will be be a regular on this blog for years to come. :)

Oh how I love Facebook... love reconnecting with old friends. :) Tiffani and I went to grade school together and found each other on FB. She lives in Nebraska now but with the internet, I feel like I know all about her. LOL She wrote me a couple months ago saying she was going to be in town and wanted to book a session down by the beach where they were staying. With Southern CA, you never know what the weather will be. But let me tell you, the last two weekends have been cold and rainy and this weekend... GORGEOUS, SUNNY & WARM! What a perfect day to have a session down by the beach. :)

Even with the scattered showers from today and the sun peeking in and out... we managed to get our session done this afternoon. Jamie and I have been friends since grade school, 4th or 5th grade I think. Just look at these girls... I mean seriously, can they get any cuter? Little "M" is turning 4 soon so we had to get some pictures done for her. Do you remember this newborn session... well she is now 6 months old and I got to see how beautiful she is becoming, just like her momma. :) I love it when my past clients come back to me, especially when its a newborn. It is so fun to see how babies change and this little one is stunning! We started our session off at the park, then ended it with a couple studio pics. For the last shots, Lyrics mom had a beautiful idea for a portrait of her and her daughter that she got from a statue, I just love how they turned out.

This morning, I got to do a session that has been 4 years in the making. I have known Jamie since we were in grade school... everyone knew us as the "2 Jaymies". LOL Well.. Jamie has had a long struggle with getting pregnant. She was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. If you have heard of this, you know its just heartbreaking. No reason, not knowing why... just not getting pregnant. Well last year she had a little procedure done (which I can't remember the name)... but WALLA... she got pregnant. The minute I saw her pic on FB with a positive pregnancy test... I smiled, my eyes watered and I was soooo happy for her and Jonathan. I know how bad she wanted to be a mother and in about 5 weeks, she will have her chance. :)

12 Days New...

Well this little guy decided it was time to come out early... he wasn't due until the end of July but made his debut on the 1st! Lisa was my daughter's first grade teacher this past year, and we loved her. :) After our last day of school, she was suppose to have 4 weeks to get ready for baby, but he was born a week after we got out, crazy! This little guy was so amazing though, he slept for almost our whole session. His parents decided to bring some props with them and we had so much fun using them!

It was great meeting your new little man, he is a sweet heart!

Happily Ever After...

A few weeks ago I was asked to shoot a wedding for a friend of a friend. I don't consider myself a wedding photographer but when the situation comes up, I will shoot the occasional wedding for friends and family. :)

Susanne and Steve were married at my good friend Jenny's house... it was set up so beautiful and was very intimate and romantic. They signed songs to each other which choked me up a bit. It was just a sweet and touching moment. :) When I met Susanne and Steve for their engagement pictures, I could see the love they had for each other. There wedding day was the exact same thing. Susanne was so giddy and nervous before the ceremony, but her smiles and excitement to marry Steve was beaming out of her. When they saw one another, it was magic. You can definitely see they love each other in every picture they are in.

6 Month Beauty...

Stunning, that is the word that comes to mind when I see her beautiful face. She is probably one of the most beautiful baby girls I have seen... her big blue eyes and those gorgeous lips, omgosh... mom and dad are in trouble. :) I just documented Lily's Baptism about a month ago and today she came to see me for her 6 Month pics. I don't know what is in the air lately but the past 3 6 month old sessions have been full of serious babies... and Lily was no different, she gave her mommy a good workout for those smiles!

Lisa is a glowing mom to be don't you think? She is having her first child, a boy... how exciting. I have a special place in my heart for her, she is my daughter's first grade teacher. :) She wasn't sure about the maternity pictures at first, but I think by the end of our session... she was excited and very happy she had them done, and so was I! This morning I had a fun session with Melissa and her family. Melissa and I went to school together way back when. :) We reconnected through Facebook over the last couple years, man I love Facebook. LOL Anyways, she told me that it had been forever since they have done family pictures, none since the new baby and she wanted me to take them. I was so honored... especially since it had been so long and she trusted me to capture the memory of her family, pictures for her to cherish this special time in their lives.:)

She was worried that we wouldn't get any today since her little one just wouldn't budge on that smile of hers... but I promised her that no matter what, we would get something... I always do. :) Here is your sneak peek... hope you love them!!!

So many of my year babies are all turning one, its so sad to see them go. :( I have enjoyed spending their first years with them and documenting this exciting time for their parents. :)

Now it is Baileys turn... I am sure you all remember her, those eyes, ugh! :) We decided to do half of our session outside this morning to get some family pics, I am so glad we did. The light was gorgeous this morning and the girls did so well. When we went back to my studio, they were both tired and didn't really want any more pics but I did get a couple... but this sneak is mainly the outdoor pics because I just loved them sooooo much!

I was so excited for today's maternity session. I have know Vanessa for about 20 years and I am so excited she will be welcoming her first child in the next month or so. I decided to split her maternity into 2 parts, some studio and some outdoors. It was such a beautiful day we just had to take advantage of it. :)

I can't believe my little niece is going to be one already, where has the time gone. I still remember getting the call saying she was coming early and all of us worried weather she was going to make it or not. Oh how I love babies... this little guy was supposed to visit me when he was only 4 days old, but I had a head cold so we postponed it. He was scheduled to come when he was 10 days old, but we switched it to the next day due to weather. So I first saw him at 11 days old... he felt we needed to reschedule again. :) He didn't want to be anywhere but his daddy's arms. The minute we put him down he fussed... sooooo we rescheduled again at day 13. Lets just say, we won! He was super mellow, laid back and just a sweet little guy.

Thanks for being so accommodating mom and dad... but as I said before, we always win. :) Hope you love them!

My very good friend Kristi's son is already 3 months old... I can't believe it. They live near by and no matter how many times I see him, he always looks bigger. ... to a wonderful year with little Kennedy! Her 1 year session was split into 2 parts, one was the cake smash and the second was her family pics. We went to Irvine Park, a favorite of mine. It was super chilly but Kennedy was a trooper. Isn't she cute, I tried to steel her GORGEOUS jacket... but didn't think I would fit in it too well. LOL I told her mom I was sad that my year was over with their beautiful daughter, but she assured me I would be seeing her again. :)

It was such a beautiful day in Irvine yesterday, so thankful for the weather. This was my last rescheduled day due to rain and it was sooo pretty, but COLD. LOL I got to spend time with some great families, an adorable doggie and a couple expecting their first born. What a great day!

I remember bringing her home on Thanksgiving Day... born 2 weeks early and weighing 8 lbs 3 oz. My first born... we were surprised when the dr. said "It's a Girl". I thought the whole pregnancy that I was having a boy, we chose not to find out. I was so excited to hear she was a girl. I really wanted a little girl. :)

This Thanksgiving, she will be turning 7... something to truly be thankful for. She is healthy, happy and smart. She loves school and is excelling. She is a good big sister to her brother (when she wants to be) and when I see her teaching him, it melts my heart. We do have our moments... she is just like me in every way, but she is better. LOL

5 days ago, a very dear friend of mine gave birth to her first child, and I was there to document the miracle. Those pics however are just for mom and dad... but today I got to see him again. If you follow my blog, you know that I don't post many wedding pics... well I am technically not a wedding photographer. :) So when my long time friend (from like 1st grade) asked me to do her wedding... I said sure, a shaky sure. LOL Lauren assured me it was going to be easy & laid back, and she was right. She made me feel so comfortable and my nerves went right out the window.

My second session of the day was with an awesome family. Erin and I walk our girls to school every morning and today she let me snap some pictures of her family. This weekend I had my Boudoir Special at a gorgeous location. Heidi, my sister is the one that does the hair and makeup for some of my girls. :) When I finished my last session, we did a mini maternity session for her. Little miss Kennedy is 9 months now... this is my 3rd session with the little lady and I must say, this is my fav so far. Two of my very good friends are expecting their first little bundle of joy. I met Kristi in college, we were taking a dance class. LOL We decided to pair up and once we got to chatting, we realized that we knew someone in common... my husband. :) Its not what you think, LOL... Kristi's brother and my husband used to play baseball together. She knew him before I knew him. We also found out we had a lot in common... her and Danny had been dating as long as Pat and I... plus our birthdays are only 1 day apart. Well now they have moved close to us and we get to spend more time with them... and let me tell you, I am soooo excited for their little baby boy to get here. :)

I spent my morning with a beautiful family. I met the cutest little 18 month old who kept me on my toes. :) We started it off chasing her around her home, then we went to the park and hung out. Erin, or I should say Mrs. Motto was one of my daughter's kindergarten teachers last year. My First Workshop...

Well this past Saturday I went to my very first photo workshop with the wonderful Tonya Joy Photography. I met Tonya when our girls were in Kindergarten last year. We realized we both had a similar passion for photography. I follow her blog and look forward to seeing her beautiful images she creates. When she posted about a workshop, I really wanted to go. Even though I am just down the street from her, she opened her doors and her knowledge to me... she really believes in helping ANYONE anyway she can. She is not worried about competition or sharing her secrets, she was there to teach what she knows and to help us become better photographers.

A great thing about a workshop is the opportunity to meet other great photographers. The group of ladies I hung out with were so kind and fun to be with. I have a feeling we will all be life long internet friends. And hey, maybe shoot together one day!

Tonya had the help of Kristina Kendig who helped with styling the first session and also provided us with some yummy food for dinner, oh I am going to make it for myself. :) She also had Katrina Kirk who completely styled the second shoot, hair and makeup... fabulous.

Ok on to my pics from the day... the first shoot focused on back light and options on shooting in mid day sun. We had an adorable family modeling for us... check out how cute they are.

The next shoot was what I was excited for... the beautiful evening light. Tonya has such a beautiful way she captures her images in this gorgeous romantic light in the evening, and I wanted to learn how. LOL I still have a ways to go.,, mastering the focus with that light coming through my lens is tough, but I feel comfortable with it now and I am so excited to start offering evening sessions now.

Check out this gorgeous couple... they were styled so cute, and omgosh... they were so in love. We were all sad when the sun went down and the shoot was over. Tonya had an awesome idea to have a Breakfast at Tiffanies meets Edward from Twilight, oh it was heaven and I loved every bit of it.

His "Name" Day...

When he was only 6 weeks old, they took him into their home and raised him as theirs. Now he is 20 months old and has their last "Name"! It was a long journey for them but it has come to an end. I was so honored to be asked to help preserve their memories of this very special day.

I spent the morning down in Laguna Beach, and what a beautiful morning it was. :) The ocean was gorgeous and the waves were wild. I got to spend some time with 3 wonderful families... 2 families I have done pictures for in the past, and one family is an old friend from High School.

First up... the "L" Family. Claudia was a winner for a mini session on my Facebook page... plus I have done a special shoot for her recently. They are celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary, aren't they cute? Her boys are so so so adorable!

Next we have the "W" Family... I did their holiday pics and cards last year. This was little miss Katie's first time to the beach... she loved the water and hated the sand. LOL I can't believe how much she has grown since the last time I saw her.

And last up is the "S" Family... Ryan and I have known each other since grade school. I have not seen her since our 10th Highschool reunion, and I have not seen her oldest daughter since her 1st birthday. Her kids are so darn cute... little Grant gave me a run for my money... but in the end, I won... I always do. LOL This first pic is probably my favorite from the day. Hee Hee

Oh my, I cannot believe my baby boy is now 4, where has the time gone? My kids are getting so big, I just don't know where all the time went.
